Autumn in Lincoln

Where better to spend one of the most picturesque seasons, than in one of the most picturesque cities? Whether it’s the relief of the crisp breeze tickling your cheeks, or the anticipation of Christmas in the air, there is definitely something magical about autumn – especially in Lincoln.

As the leaves begin to turn, the cathedral becomes framed by the most beautiful autumnal shades, the low sunshine glitters across the Brayford and the city’s cosiest cafes and restaurants tempt you inside with their soft lighting, hot chocolates and comfort food.

Though the temperature may be cooling down, there’s still plenty of time to explore before winter arrives. Lincoln's museums, galleries and play centres have got you covered for those cold, rainy days, and if you need to warm up, you'll find plenty of cafes and restaurants ready to tempt you in with hot drinks and seasonal snacks.

From September – November, you will find a variety of autumnal events taking place across the city – especially in the run up to Halloween. The setting for many a ghost story, Lincoln and Halloween go hand-in-hand. The dark cobbled streets, the historic buildings, the gothic cathedral; this city is full of spooktacular sights.

As the nights draw in earlier, autumn is the perfect season to join the Lincoln Ghost Walk. This spooky tour will take you on a walk around the Cathedral Quarter, with plenty of goosebump-inducing stories to enjoy along the way.

Away from the city, you'll find even more to enjoy. Autumn is the perfect season to experience the wonderful Lincolnshire countryside - so grab your wellies and get exploring! From pumpkin patches to seasonal farmers markets, you will find a plethora of autumnal events on offer around the county.
