How to get around Lincoln

Once you’ve arrived in Lincoln, there are plenty of transport options to help you get around. With regular buses, taxis and trains, navigating around the city is simple. As it is a historic city, Lincoln has a number of cobbled streets, and some very steep hills! If you need help getting around, these handy travel tools will help you explore Lincoln with ease.

Inner City Bus Routes

Lincoln has three inner-city bus routes that will take you from the suburbs to the city centre:

1. Lincoln Park and Ride

Save the hassle of finding a parking space by using Lincoln Park & Ride. Park for free at Waitrose and you can travel into the city centre by bus. This service runs Monday - Saturday, with buses every 15 minutes.

2. Lincoln Walk and Ride

The Walk and Ride is a shuttle service which will take you straight up to the Cathedral Quarter – avoiding Steep Hill. The Walk and Ride is operated by PC Coaches and runs throughout the day Monday to Saturday, excluding public holidays.


3. Tour Lincoln

Lincoln's open-top sightseeing bus runs from March to October (selected days only). This circular route will take you around Lincoln, with plenty of live commentary along on the way. There are 10 bus stops en-route, and you can hop-on and hop-off all day.

Wheelchair and Scooter Loan

Located in Lincoln Central Carpark, Shopmobility provide powered scooters and powered/manual wheelchairs for daily loans.

The office is open Monday to Friday from 9.00am to 4.15pm, and Saturday 9.00am to 12.45pm.  You can sign up to be member, or hire equipment on an ad hoc basis.

Local Taxi Companies

There is a large taxi rank outside Lincoln Central Station, so you can hop in a cab straight off the train.

Travelling around Lincolnshire


If you’re hoping to explore more of Lincolnshire during your visit, travelling by road is the best way to get around this rural county. If you don't drive, there are plenty of public transport options available.

Buses in Lincolnshire
