Travel Information

For a small city, Lincoln is surprisingly well connected. Easily accessible by road and rail, it is easier to get here than you may realise.

At the centre of Lincoln is a state-of-the art transport hub. This means, if you’re travelling by public transport,  you will arrive right in the heart of the city. As Lincoln is fairly compact, you don’t have to worry about hiring a car once you’re here either – everything is accessible on foot.

Lincoln Central Train Station is serviced by East Midlands Rail, LNER and Northern Rail, so major cities like Sheffield, Nottingham and Leeds are just a short train ride away. There is a  direct train service from London to Lincoln every day, and great connecting routes if you’re coming from further afield.

If you want to explore the suburbs and beyond, Lincoln’s excellent bus network will take you as far out as the Lincolnshire Coast. You can venture out to the surrounding villages and market towns, for as little as £2.00 with Stagecoach.

With great road links, travelling to Lincoln by car is easy. Once you arrive, you will find a huge choice of car parks here, with prices starting from just £2.00 an hour. Alternatively, you can hop on the Park & Ride, and enjoy free parking all day.

If accessibility is a concern, there are a number of ways to help make your visit as smooth as possible. If you can’t manage Steep Hill, the Walk & Ride bus will take you up to the Cathedral Quarter, whilst Dial-a-Ride can provide walking aids and wheelchairs for the city centre.
