Horncastle

Often referred to as the ‘Gateway to the Wolds’, Horncastle is situated halfway between the city of Lincoln and the coast. Due to its location, the town is the perfect base for exploring all that Lincolnshire has to offer.

Surrounded by rolling countryside, Horncastle is steeped in history. The town’s roots lie in Roman times, and there are sections of original Roman walls still visible today.  Take a wander around the cobbled streets and you’ll discover a variety of architectural styles, from pretty thatched cottages to grand Victorian and Georgian houses.

Today, Horncastle is a hotspot for shopping, and you’ll find plenty of independent businesses here. The town is famed for its huge array of antique shops, piled high with vintage treasures. There are also weekly markets on Thursdays and Saturdays, and a monthly Farmers Market, held on the 2nd Thursday of each month.

In the town centre, you will also find a great selection of cafes, tearooms, restaurants and pubs. Local producers like Myers Bakery, Cote Hill Cheese and Louth Distillery are all based nearby, so you can enjoy some of the freshest food and drink in Lincolnshire here!
