See Lincoln transformed as the biggest and longest running Steampunk festival on Earth returns to the city for the 11th year.
Watch the cobbled streets of historic Lincoln taken over by the Victorian Steampunk Society's annual festival - from top hats and flying goggles, to corset and flamboyant feathers.
The annual event celebrates a steam powered world in the late 19th century and attracts visitors from all over the world. Over the August Bank Holiday weekend, the biggest Steampunk festival in the world will arrive in Lincoln, hosting a full convention-style day programme with a fringe style programme of art, literature, music, fashion, comedy and simple good fun.
- Bazaar Eclectica, Castle Hill, free
The Bazaar Eclectica will bring a Steampunk market of weird and wonderful items to the historic Castle Hill.
- The Costume Parade and Promenade, Lincoln Castle/Bailgate, wristband/free to spectate
A Steampunk military parade, with performance from the Lincolnshire Fire Service band, will take place in Lincoln Castle on Sunday at 10am. A full Steampunk promenade will take place south along Bailgate on Monday at 10am - wristbands are required to take part but spectators are welcome.
- Food Court, Westgate Academy, wristband
Open for breakfast, second breakfast, elevenses, brunch, lunch, afternoon tea, dinner and supper.
- The Great Exhibition, Bishop Grosseteste University, wristband
Steampunks will exhibit their own artwork, including 3D objects, 2D pictures, and steambears. Awards will be given to the work on display.
- The Illicit Market, wristband + entry/exit fees
A secret market and role-playing game - all items of Steampunk wares must be hidden until the market opens and hidden again if "the authorities" arrive.
- Jet Pack Race, Lincoln Castle, wristband
Steampunk jet packs do not help pilots fly, so the race is a 60m one, on foot. Any pieces of jetpack that fall off must be collected to finish the course.
- Steampunk Embassy, Cathedral Centre, free
Exhibitions, talks, authors, artists and members of the community are all on hand to answer questions and help with the eternal debate of; “What is Steampunk?”
- Tea Duelling, wristband
The Asylum Championship will run on Saturday, and the World Championship on Sunday at the festival. With a biscuit as a weapon, contestants must dunk into hot tea and perform a 'clean Nom' to be the victor.
- The Wacky Racers, Lincoln Castle, wristband
A perennial favourite at The Asylum, the wacky racers must drive their home-made, (wo)man powered vehicle, wearing helmets and goggles in a 120m race to the finish. Expect crazy fun and creativity!
