Highlights

Winterton

This small attractive town has a wealth of historic buildings surrounding the marketplace, which is overlooked by the All Saints Parish Church.

Roxby

The village of Roxby consists of stone houses and farm buildings, gathered around the 14th century church of St Mary. In the garden between North and South Street lies the site of an important Roman dwelling. The mosaic floor here is occasionally exposed for viewing.

River Ancholme

This river is known locally as the ’Carrs’, an old term to describe low lying land liable to flooding. The drainage of the Ancholme Valley proved to be very difficult, taking around 200 years to perfect.
