North Kesteven Airfield Trail

- Moderate
Explore the Heart of Lincolnshire's aviation heritage with a trail of active RAF stations and former airfield sites.
Lincolnshire's flat, open countryside made it ideal for the development of airfields during World War I and World War II as the county became the home of Bomber Command.
Today, the county hosts several operational airfields serving the modern day RAF, and museums and memorials stand as witness to the bravery of the men and women who served in the most turbulent times.
The North Kesteven Airfield Trail enables visitors to locate active RAF stations and former airfield sites, many of which are now identified by distinctive signs.
The sites can be visited within a comfortable day's drive, or for a more leisurely tour you can spend a few days combining the trail with other things to do in Sleaford and Lincoln.
