Follow the Lincoln Grand Prix route to discover the beautiful Lincolnshire countryside and ride in the shadow of champions.
The Lincoln Grand Prix is an elite cycling event held each year in Lincoln - a starting loop flows through the countryside north of the city and the finishing circuit heads into the city centre, up the famous Michaelgate climb and through Castle Square.
In 2015 the British Cycling Road Race Championships took place in Lincoln with the country's top cyclists racing around this route. The 2015 champions were Peter Kennaugh and Lizzie Armitstead.
The starting loop is open to cyclists year round to follow giving a 28 mile cycle route beginning and ending at Yarborough Leisure Centre. It will take you north along the B1398, then left on to the A1500 to Sturton by Stow, turning right on to the B1241 through Stow, Willlingham by Stow, Kexby, and Upton to Corringham. Next you will turn right on to the A631 to Harpswell and right again back on the B1398 passing Glentworth, Ingham and Scampton.
It is recommended to take the loop anti-clockwise to avoid difficult right-turns. Please be aware that the full finishing circuit is not accessible by bicycle apart from during the Grand prix itself.
