RAF Waddington

RAF Waddington

Located four miles south of Lincoln, RAF Waddington is a busy operational airfield and home to a fascinating Heritage Centre.

Royal Air Force Waddington has a distinguished history, of which it is justly proud. Almost continuously active since first opening as a Royal Flying Corps training base in 1916, the base held significant operational roles during World War II, the Cold War V-Bomber era and during the Falklands Campaign.

Since the base's opening it has become one of the RAF’s busiest operational airfields, home to RAF Air Command surveillance and reconnaissance assets and, today, their squadrons and personnel are involved in supporting operations all around the world.

Heritage Centre

The RAF Waddington Heritage Centre allows you to step into the hisotry of the base.  Displays include the wreckage from aircraft that were based at Waddington and other links to RAF museums across the country.  Pre-arrangement is essential for visiting the base and Heritage Centre and can be done so by email or calling +44 (0)1522 727367.

Viewing Enclosure

The Waddington Airfield Viewing Enclosure (WAVE) enables you to see current aircraft operations for free. WAVE is located off the A15 opposite the airfield.
