Lincoln families are being invited to unleash their inner mad scientist this Halloween with a monster-making adventure at Cornhill Market.
The Cornhill Monster Incubation Laboratory will open its doors from Wednesday, October 28, to Sunday, November 1, recruiting Junior Scientists to help hatch, grow and care for a new generation of friendly but mischievous monsters.
According to the laboratory’s mysterious backstory, strange magical energy has caused monster eggs to hatch beneath the market – and the creatures need help preparing for life above ground.
Young recruits can choose from four hands-on missions, creating their own monster pumpkin, mixing magical growth potions, excavating hidden monster fossils or experimenting with colourful cloud slime.
The Monster Pumpkin Incubation mission gives children the chance to decorate their own creature, add monster features and register their new companion before taking it home.
Meanwhile, budding potion-makers can mix colourful ingredients and shimmering formulas, while fossil hunters uncover buried specimens and slime researchers create their own unusual samples.
The 45-minute, scientist-led sessions will feature mad scientists in character, interactive experiments, take-home creations and official Monster Laboratory certificates.
The experience is suitable for children aged four and over, although some activities are recommended for ages five and up. All children must be accompanied by an adult, and organisers advise wearing clothes that can get messy.
Sessions will run between 10am and 4pm, with capacity limited to 12 Junior Scientists per session.
Tickets cost between £6.13 and £9.38, with advance booking available online.
