Lincoln Choral Society and Lincoln Cathedral Choir

Prepare for the Easter season with a performance of JS Bach's St Matthew Passion by Lincoln Choral Society and the Lincoln Cathedral Choir in the stunning Nave of Lincoln Cathedral.

Lincoln Choral Society will be joined by Lincoln Cathedral's choir, Lincoln Cathedral Consort, Lincoln Chorale and Lincoln Diocesan Ladies Choir to perform this sacred masterpiece, the second of Bach's two surviving Passions.

Orchestration will be played on authentic period instruments by Musica Donum Dei and conducted by Aric Prentice. The Evangelist will be Mark Wilde.

The St Matthew Passion, written in 1727 is set for for solo voices, double choir and double orchestra. It sets chapters 26 and 27 of the Gospel of Matthew (in the German translation of Martin Luther) to music, with interspersed chorales and arias.

What better venue to experience this Easter piece of music than in one of Europe's finest cathedrals?
