Lincoln Cathedral Choir

In the lead up to Advent, Lincoln Cathedral Choir perform Handel's Messiah in the stunning surroundings of Lincoln Cathedral.

Lincoln Cathedral Choir will be performing the seasonal favourite in the grand nave of the Cathedral, including one of the most famous pieces of choral music, the Hallelujah Chorus.

The Choir, an assembly of boys, girls and men, are to thank for the wonderful day-to-day musical worship at the Cathedral. For Christmas, you will be able to enjoy the rare opportunity to hear them sing Handel’s famous Messiah. They will be accompanied by the Lincoln Chamber Orchestra.

Messiah was written in 1741 by German born George Frideric Handel. Collaborated on, with Charles Jennens, an Englishman and friend of Handel who provided the lyrics for the piece, the song reflects on Jesus Christ as the Messiah.

Following prophecies, the Nativity Story, the Passion and Resurrection from the dead, the work is known for its performance during the Christmas season and includes the famous Hallelujah chorus.
