Uphill Lincoln is still busy with families doing the new Pumpkin Trail – from The Strait to Newport Arch children have been hunting out 44 pumpkins hiding in shop windows.
Over 3,500 Pumpkin Trail leaflets were printed – and it’s proved as popular as the other trails that have taken place in the past.
The idea for the free trail came from the Bailgate Guild, The Little Pottery Studio, Visit Lincoln and Lincoln BIG. It’s been a huge success and has encouraged more families to enjoy Uphill Lincoln during their Autumn Half Term break. The Trail continues until Sunday 4 November.
For the second year running Visit Lincoln co-sponsored ‘Business of the Year’ with Natwest at the Lincolnshire Media Business Awards – it was a great celebration of local success!
The success of Visit Lincoln is so closely interlinked with the achievements of county businesses and the wider community who makes Lincolnshire a great place to live and work.
Congratulations to all the winners and shortlisted businesses! Work has already begun on next year’s Tourism Excellence Awards we’re organising with Lincolnshire Media. More information will be announced soon but in the meantime please save the date Tuesday 12 March 2019.
Lydia Rusling will be joining the speakers’ line up at the upcoming Be My Guest Conference on Tuesday 13 November at Butlins, Skegness.
It’s a full day of speakers, networking, industry insights and more – and it’s completely free to attend.
VisitEngland will be talking along with other tourism experts. Lydia will be talking about the new VisitLincolnshire.com website we have just launched and how the county accommodation providers can benefit from it. To book your free space register via the website.
If you’re hosting guests over the festive holiday make sure you read up on the Christmas Emporium experience that’s coming to Lincoln Castle from the 15th December through to the 22nd.
In total eight evenings of Christmas entertainment will be on offer – encourage people to revisit Uphill Lincoln after the Christmas Market.
As well as stalls selling arts, crafts, food and drink there will also be a spectacular Victorian inspired light show every evening. You can also book private Christmas parties at Lincoln Castle, and take advantage of the Christmas Emporium at the same time.
Visit Lincoln is teaming up with the people at ‘Quality in Tourism’ to give our partners a discount on an independent quality assessment from experts in the accommodation field.
Customers like seeing quality guarantees and as well as assessing your quality offer they will also ensure you’re up to date with all the legal standards needed for the industry.
Anyone who signs up before the 31st December can look forward to a 20% discount. Redeem the discount via the Quality in Tourism website.
That’s right, we’re talking 2019 already! Save this date in the diary 30th March – 7 April 2019 because it’s English Tourism Week. It’s the one time every year that a stoplight is shone on the multi-billion pound tourism sector across England.
As well as highlighting the economic impact of the sector, VisitEngland also runs a consumer campaign.
The popular ‘Discover Lincolnshire Weekend’ event will also take place during English Tourism Week, so please work with us to raise awareness of Lincoln and Lincolnshire’s local tourism offer by planning an event (remember to tell us about it, so we can help promote it), offering a visitor perk and taking a look at the #EnglishTourismWeek19 toolkit.
If you know of a site in Lincolnshire which has a significant link to transport heritage it could be worthy of a new ‘Red Wheel’ plaque (similar to the Blue Plaque scheme).
The Transport Trust is looking for new sites for the scheme, which could form part of a trial for visitors and residents.
All ideas are welcome, just send a quick email with your suggestion to the Transport Trust - email@example.com
