In The Steampunk Chronicle's annual Readers' Choice Awards, Lincoln was voted as the 'Most Steampunk Location' and the Steampunk festival in the city, The Asylum, as the 'Best non-USA Convention', furthering the reputation around the annual event.
Steampunk, as explained by Major Thadeus Tinker (aka John Naylor), Chair of the Victorian Steampunk Society, is "a creative social movement that draws inspiration from Victorian and pre-war history in an anachronistic mix of science fiction, modern values and a sense of fun".
Weekend at the Asylum is the largest Steampunk gathering in Europe, meeting annually in the historic, cobbled streets of Lincoln's Cathedral Quarter. Visitors are spectacularly dressed for the occasion and enjoy a themed festival of fashion, music, comedy and much more over the weekend.
With these further accolades, it cements Lincoln's position as the place to be for Steampunk fans the world over. The festivities aren't only for the Steampunk community either: newcomers are always very welcome to join in the fun and see what all the fuss is about.
With a range of vintage and antique shops throughout Lincoln to get you in the mood, join The Asylum this September for a unique and extraordinary festival in the streets of the historic city and experience the world's most Steampunk location for yourself.
