muiscLINK, the live music information service for Lincolnshire and the East Midlands, is a charity funded entirely by membership subscriptions. Members range from teachers and performers to choirs, choral societies, bands and venues/organisations.
There are lots of exciting groups who are members of musicLINK. In May we feature the North Hykeham & District Choral Society.
The North Hykeham & District Choral Society has been a valued member of musicLINK for many years, with Secretary Malcolm S. Tipper acting as musicLINK’s Events Secretary on a volunteer basis. The society plays three major concerts per year at Easter, mid-summer, and Christmas.
North Hykeham has had a choral society for over 100 years, with the first records showing the North and South Hykeham Choral Society of 1904. The inaugural society lasted until 1929. The current society was formed in 1956, meaning it is well over 50 years old. The society has performed in excess of 250 concerts, ranging from cantatas, part songs, operettas, and oratorios. As well as creating a community atmosphere, the society has raised hundreds of pounds for charities.
You can find out more on the society’s website, including a list of concerts, a history, and a gallery.
