The team at Lincoln Castle have undergone Autism Awareness training and worked alongside Lincoln’s Parent Support Group PAACT who is affiliated to the Lincolnshire Autistic Society in order to create an environment suitable for all visitors.
The Victorian Prison and Magna Carta experience will be adapted to create a more suitable environment for visitors with autism. The castle’s Visit England Gold Accolade winning Front of House team will also be at hand to assist you throughout their visit.
The education spaces will also be available equipped with sensory toys if you need a moment away or a safe space. The Langton’s Café team will be serving food and drink from 9am too for a tasty breakfast.
A brand new Easy Read Guide, which is specifically designed for young children and adults with Autism to take on their way around the Castle, can be downloaded with information for how to reserve your own temporary ear defenders whilst visiting.
The Early Morning Explorers sessions take place between 9am and 10am. From 10am the castle’s audio and visual interpretation will restart for the general public, however Early Morning Explorers are more than welcome to stay as long as they like.
