Event promotion on the Visit Lincoln website is a fantastic opportunity for organisers to promote and advertise their events to a local and national audience.

With additional options including online ticket sales, inclusion in newsletters, social media and on-street advertising – you’ve got the whole package.

Website

VisitLincoln.com is the most up to date website for the city having over 220,000 page views from 80,000 unique visitors per month. The 'What's On' section of the website is one of the most popular and a common way visitors arrive on the website with more than 60,000 pageviews per month.

Events listed on visitlincoln.com should be:

  • Of significant scale and quality to attract people to visit Lincoln;
  • Likely to extend length of stay and increase spend per head;
  • Unique to Lincoln and celebrate its key characteristics such as heritage, food and culture;
  • Including on the Visit Lincoln events widget, used across a number of 3rd party websites.

What's included

  • An image gallery on the listing webpage, seen in search results and in thumbnail across the website;
  • Key information such as location, contact details, website, opening times and prices is included;
  • Dynamic information, related to the location of the event, is also presented to show users where to stay and where to eat or drink nearby;
  • If you sell tickets through the Visit Lincoln website, they are displayed below the main event content with ticket types, price and quantity. The tickets are paid for by the customer through the Visit Lincoln online shop. A link to ‘Buy Tickets’ can be found on the main image at the top of the page;
  • Your event listing is social optimised to include your Twitter feed, a link to your Facebook page and the option for users to comment using their Facebook account;
  • You can boost your event promotion by advertising throughout the What’s On section. Adverts appear on each individual events page including search and landing page;
  • The location of the event is fully integrated with Google Maps including the function to find directions and to show things to do, places to stay, food and drink and car parks nearby.

Online ticket sales

Event tickets can be sold using the ticketing function on VisitLincoln.com linking to an event listing on the website.

Visitors buy a branded e-ticket which can be printed or shown on a device by the customer to the venue. It’s a cost effective way to boost ticket sales with only a 10% commission.

The service is not available for ‘seated’ events.

Digital Screens

Lincoln’s digital screens offer a prime space for advertising your events in Lincoln city centre.

The three locations – City Square, Lincoln Cornhill, and St Marks Shopping Centre – are in the ideal position to be seen by 1 million commuters, shoppers, and visitors to Lincoln each month.

The double sided 42” television screens show HD clarity for your artwork or video and include glare-free glass for easy viewing.

Advertising on these screens is limited to events or festivals happening in Lincolnshire to promote the county’s events programme – aligning with the aim of the digital screens’ presence in Lincoln city centre.

  • Advert duration time: 30 seconds (maximum);
  • Static image or a video;
  • Shown in all three locations on both sides of the unit, 24 hours per day;
  • Displayed a minimum of four times per hour on all 6 screens;
  • Showing a minimum of 420 times (2½ hours) per day (counting for 6am – 12am peak times);
  • Average monthly footfall in Lincoln city centre is in excess of 1 million.

Visitor Information Centre

The Visitor Information Centre welcomes over 100,000 people through its door every year.

Event tickets can be sold at the Lincoln Visitor Information Centre, although the event organiser is responsible for supplying tickets and details to the customer. The VIC can takes payment for tickets with a 10% commission payable on the total transaction value.

The window is also available to hire for a window display promoting your event.
