Explore Bomber County home to the Red Arrows

Named after the Hampden Bomber which served in the early stages of the Second World War, this Cycle Challenge trail takes you out through ‘Bomber County’ near RAF Scampton, home to the world famous Red Arrows and past now silent airfields where crews from around the world formed squadrons that were once part of the RAF.

On this trail you’ll discover…

16 Voices including the beginnings and history of RAF Scampton as well as the role of Guy Gibson in the Dams Raid, along with the story of John Hannah – the youngest recipient of the Victoria Cross in the Second World War, and the part the Polish Air Force in the Allied war effort.
